Your Story has Power!

“There’s no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you!

Maya Angelou

Who doesn’t love a good story! Whether you are watching your favorite show, streaming a new movie, or watching your all-time favorite film for the 2oth time! Stories evoke emotion, excitement, joy, sadness, pain, and anticipation of success and the hero’s journey!

I’m curious, have you ever thought of your life and your story through the lens of an amazing book or movie?

Your life is also a story and each day a new page is being written. And the reality of your story is that either you are intentionally writing each day or something or someone else is writing it for you. Often we look to what’s ahead and forget about what was in our past. What is revealing is that we live our present through the filter of our past.

So in order to write your story today and go farther forward into the future, you need to know and understand your story and what has shaped who you are and how you view your present!

Winston Churchill shares that “The farther back you can look, the farther forward you are able to see.”

You have moments in your life, significant moments that have shaped who you are today. So let’s start there!

Use the 6 H Process to write your story.

  • Hero – How has a hero impacted your life
  • History – What is your history? Where did you grow up, family heritage, family traditions or environments and how did those impact you?
  • Helping Hand – Who has journeyed alongside you and offered help? How did those actions, words, and presence influence who you are?
  • Heartache or Hurt – We all experience pain and suffering, so how have those moments shaped your perspective, thought process, and view of your world and others?
  • Hope – What experiences, people, places, things, faith give you hope and why?
  • Highlights – What are those moments, your personal “Top 10,” that have impacted you as an athlete, in relationships, financially, socially, and intellectually?

The 6 H Process is a simple framework to help remind you of those milestone moments that have shaped who you are today. The more you remember, understand, and have clarity; the greater impact you can have today and as you move forward!

Remember your Story, Write your Story, and Share your Story!

Your story has power and is needed to be shared with the world. Take the time to remember it, write it down, and then share it with your world!

Intentionally write your next page today!
